Teaching

For linguists

Learning to use the Terminal

The Terminal (or command interpreter) is the application of an operating system (Windows/MacOS/Linux) which allows the user to run text commands. It is very useful because some tasks that are extremely difficult in graphical applications can be done easily using the Terminal.

It is particularly convenient for linguists working with corpora, because it allows them to make document transformations and calculations to extract valuable information from them.

For computer technicians

Introduction to Ruby language programming

Ruby is an open source programming language focused on simplicity and productivity. Ruby programmers get a natural feeling for its syntax, which is easy to read and write and takes the idea of "happy coding" to another level. In this workshop we will learn this programming language and we will use it to do some interesting and funny things. We will focus specifically on showing best practices and the "Ruby preferred way" to program.

At present this workshop isn't open, but you can subscribe to it and we'll get in touch with you when it is.
